What you’ll need to do the job correctly
A desk may be built in an unlimited number of ways. And for this particular project, I’m looking for a computer desk that meets four specific requirements.
In terms of size, you’ll discover that most of the desks in the shop aren’t much longer than 60 inches. I couldn’t find a large computer desk to house all my equipment, so I built one myself. Some were unsightly and crudely constructed, while others were too pricey.
It’s usually cheaper to make something yourself than to purchase it, and in this instance, it will save hundreds of dollars. The materials we used to cost approximately $250 new, but you may be able to get them for $150 or less if you shop around and use pieces you already have. That’s approximately half the cost of a typical office desk of this size from a retail retailer. When it comes to choosing a desktop material, there are a plethora of choices. Color, style, and weight are all factors to consider when deciding the type of wood.
A complete desk can be made from one piece of plywood for less than $100, but it needs a lot of equipment and expertise. Even if the price goes up a bit, we want everyone to be able to participate in our initiative, even if they don’t have much carpentry expertise.
The distinction between a tailored “computer desk” and a “writing desk” is sometimes overlooked. These discrepancies may do much damage to your body if left unchecked. This time, I’ll combine the elegant design of the latter with its ergonomics to create a beautiful and functional product.
In the end, I opted to build my desk from a door slab and adjustable desk feet from IKEA after doing much research. As an added advantage, you ought to be able to locate the components no matter where you reside.
